Photography Fun

Recently I decided to go to the Melbourne International Motor Show and take a number of photos with my old film SLR camera. Oh the fun of not being able to take dozens of photos not stop, changing film every 24 photos, discovering you haven't packed anymore film but then discovering for some reason 7-11 still sells Kodak film for some reason and then eventually getting the film to be developed at someplace that still does photo developing to discover how the photos actually came out, finding out that certain percentage of the shots actually come out shit arse. That film has not yet been developed by the way so I don't know what percentage of the shots actually come out shit arse, but I got the feel it might be not a good percentage as it has been a while since I've done this for of photography.

The last time I used this camera was probably 2004, when I was doing the Diploma of Multimedia course at Swinburne Lilydale Campus. Over the last couple of weeks I've been scanning a bunch of old photos onto my computer with the intent at some point to load them up onto that internet somewhere, most like Facebook. The purpose of this is not just to let other people see my photos but also to help preserve the photos so should the original photo albums be lost some copy of those photos do still exist somewhere. What I didn't expect was the number of photos I would be scanning and how long it would take as I also have to do clean up work on the photos after scanning them in (take out dirty, correct the colour, etc). At the moment the number of photos scanned is at 217 photos that there are still more to go.

After a while of doing this I start thinking it might be a good idea to pull out the old SLR and start taking photos with it again and after a bit of looking I managed to find the old fella with a few roles of film waiting to be used. The battery needed replacing but other than that camera seemed fine. Unfortunately the Motor Show probably was not the best place to start my new beautiful photographic adventures (don't question where that came from I don't know ever) but I'm back into taking photos with my old SLR camera taking a number of great looking photos, at least until the current film I have in my camera bag runs out, then I might look at the cost of getting a digital SLR camera, though I haven't factored in the cost of developing the film ever, so that might have an affect as well om me and my SLR's future. Hmmm....
